Shade presented itself to me when I had finally had enough of my desk lamp blinding me with its aggressively bright incandescent bulb.
I used this opportunity to explore paper and paper products as a material for not only building but for diffusing and redirecting light.
Through the natural flexibility of paper, this shade uses the element of compression to either let more or less light out. The thick ribs of the shade bow out and in to open up spaces and minimize total diffusion of the light.
